Track Lorenzo's Progress on His Journey Towards His First Steps
Status: Halfway there
The bar reflects the estimated milestone of completed treatments Lorenzo needs to undergo.
Lorenzo was born with a rare condition called tibial hemimelia affecting both legs. Doctors in Toronto told us the only option was amputation and prosthetics. Heartbroken, we searched the world for alternatives.
At the Paley Institute in Florida, the proposed solution would have left Lorenzo unable to bend his knees or ankles, essentially the same as prosthetics. Still determined, we kept searching until we found Dr. Michael Weber in Dubai. His treatment offers real hope: up to 75% knee function and the chance for Lorenzo to walk, run, and play like other children.
Unfortunately, this life-changing treatment is not covered by the Canadian healthcare system and is far beyond our family’s means. We uprooted our lives and moved to Dubai over a year and a half ago, and while we have begun treatment thanks to generous support from family, friends, and strangers, we remain far from the total amount required.
We share Lorenzo’s story to raise awareness and ask for your support. Every contribution brings us closer to seeing our son take his first independent steps, run across a playground, and enjoy the simple joys of childhood. With your help, we believe we will get there—we have faith.
